How to Register a Company in Zimbabwe from South Africa

If you are a Zimbabwean in South Africa (or a South African investor) wanting to set up a business back home, the good news is that Zimbabwe company registration is now fully electronic — you do not need to travel. Here is the step-by-step process.

Step 1 — Company name search (CR21). Before you can register, your proposed company name must be reserved with the Registrar of Companies. This confirms the name is available and legally usable.

Step 2 — Prepare statutory documents. You will need a Memorandum and Articles of Association, together with the CR14 (directors and secretary) and CR6 (registered office) forms.

Step 3 — Submit electronically and receive your CR2. Filing is done online under the Companies and Other Business Entities Act (Chapter 24:31). Once approved, you receive your Certificate of Incorporation (CR2) within one to two weeks.

Registering from abroad.
